I earned my B.A. in Psychology and Educational Studies from Denison University in Granville, Ohio and my M.Ed. in Marriage and Family Therapy from The College of William and Mary of Virginia.  In between schooling I worked for a parachurch ministry, contributing to my interest in working with young adults and the college-age population and integrating patients’ faith when they wish to do so.  I hold a certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy through the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas and am a certified Circle of Security-Parenting facilitator.

I operate from an insight-oriented, relational perspective with the belief that as we begin to notice what we do and find explanations for why we do it we are able to have more choice over the ways we think, feel, and interact with the world and ourselves.  This can be a liberating experience for many people.  I work out of a warm, relaxed and nonjudgmental approach, guiding patients in their process of growth and helping themselves.

Therapeutic focus

I enjoy working with a broad range of populations, particularly with college students, young adults, women, couples, families, late adolescents, and children of divorce.  Areas of interest include family of origin issues, relationships, life transitions, identity formation, anxiety, infertility, and general self-exploration.
